Dr. Scott Muri
Scott R. Muri became the Superintendent of Schools in Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) on July 1, 2015, leading SBISD to become one of the first Districts of Innovation in Texas. Immediately prior to joining SBISD, Dr. Muri served as the Deputy Superintendent of Academics for Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Muri also held leadership roles in North Carolina’s Charlotte- Mecklenburg School District including Chief Information Officer as well as Area and Zone Superintendent.
Dr. Muri also served in Celebration, FL, for more than a decade as technology leader and administrator at Disney’s Celebration School. Early in his career, he also served as a high school principal and teacher, where he became one of the first National Board Certified Teachers in the country.
Dr. Muri believes that every child is an individual learner and that the teacher-student equation is most effective when learning is personalized to meet the unique needs of every child. Dr. Muri also strongly believes in the importance of a great teacher in every learning environment and a great principal leading every school.
Dr. Muri graduated with a bachelor’s degree in intermediate education and middle school education from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership from Wingate University in Matthews, NC, and holds a master’s degree in public school administration from Stetson University in Deland, FL. He has conducted master’s level work in public school administration at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
